On August 1, the first national mandatory standard GB 31241-2014 safety requirements for lithium ion batteries and battery packs for portable electronic products in the lithium battery industry was officially implemented. This means that from August 1st, 2015, the state will conduct irregular sampling inspection. Lithium battery and related electronic industries need to pay close attention to the implementation trend of the new national standard. Major leading-edge testing institutions such as China Quality Certification Center and beice testing can help enterprises highlight their brand image and win the Chinese market.

Lithium batteries have entered thousands of households and are widely used in various electronic devices. However, improper production, transportation or use can cause fire and explosion. According to the investigation released by the media, the explosion accidents in many places are mainly caused by the battery quality. 

Recently, the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and Quarantine of the people's Republic of China (AQSIQ) conducted a thorough monitoring on the national power bank. It showed that all the 32 batches of products and 224 samples sampled had quality risk problems. Among them, 6 batches had fire and explosion during the impact test of the heavy objects of the battery. Battery safety accidents may affect property or even life. In the face of frequent battery safety accidents, GB 31241-2014 came into being. 

At the same time, the AQSIQ issued the announcement on its official website on the provisions on the post-treatment of production enterprises of unqualified products under the state supervision and random inspection of product quality (2015 No. 57) (hereinafter referred to as the new regulations on national sampling), which was officially implemented on July 1, 2015. 

The sales of unqualified products under the national sampling will be banned. In serious cases, the relevant licenses will be revoked by the administrative department for Industry and Commerce and other relevant administrative licensing departments. How to deal with a series of strict government measures has become an urgent problem for enterprises.

As the most severe and comprehensive national standard for lithium-ion batteries in history, GB 31241-2014 comprehensively considers the most common electrical safety test, environmental safety test, battery pack and system protection circuit safety test for lithium-ion batteries and battery packs. 

The standard integrates all kinds of risk factors in real life. In view of the common quality problems such as insufficient capacitance, serious decline of discharge performance under low temperature conditions, short cycle life and so on, it sets strict conditions to control the safety of products. The standard can comprehensively help enterprises standardize their production behavior, improve product quality, respond to the new national regulations, improve the brand and win the market.

Before the formal implementation of the standard, a large number of lithium battery enterprises focusing on brand growth, such as Dongguan Maike, Ningbo Vico, Zhongshan Tianmao, Huizhou Derrida, Shenzhen BPI and other lithium batteries, have successfully passed the battery laboratory test of Beijing test. This means that this batch of lithium batteries produced by the above enterprises have reached the highest level of product safety required by the state, and consumers can use them with confidence.
